In the build up to the most anticipated game of the European Championships, Volkswagen Netherlands teamed up with Volkswagen Germany to bring their fans: Das Interland. A real-time penalty shoot out between Dutch and German fans on Facebook, iOS and Android. Close to 700.000 games were played in the space of 12 days.

Super simple gameplay.
Taking a penalty was made very easy. Just drag the ball further back for more power and aim by moving left or right. The more powerful the shot, the less amount of time the opponent has to stop the ball.

After every 'defeat', we rewarded players with funny 5 seconds movies in which we poked fun at the other country using their famous clichés.

We created a game that allowed allowed Dutch and German fans to play against each other live trough multiple devices.
The game uses a socket server to allow a lot of live concurrent connections making sure everyone has a smooth gaming experience and waiting queues are limited to an absolute minimum.
